  80. ...not even one dang heck of a hurricane!  I don't want to turn this edition
  81. into a long, drawn-out diary of my life and Hurricane Andrew.  We live in Boca
  82. Raton, so everyone knows there was barely a trace of damage up here.  Our
  83. hearts and minds go out to those less fortunate who were hit much worse in
  84. southern Dade County.  The bulk of my prepardness for the storm was taping up
  85. our windows and backing up my PC. <grin>  Seriously, let me just say two
  86. things:

  88. ˛ SUPPORT THE HURRICANE RELIEF MOVEMENT! - By the time you read this, over
  89.   a month will have passed since Hurricane Andrew hit.  The relief
  90.   movement, whether it be through the American Red Cross, the United Way,
  91.   or donating supplies at your local supermarket, still needs your support!
  92.   Please consider volunteering some time (even if you have done so in the
  93.   past), or dropping off canned goods at the local supermarkets (when
  94.   you're buying groceries, buy an extra few dollars worth), donate blood to
  95.   the Red Cross, whatever you can do will help someone in need.  The help
  96.   is still needed and will continue to be needed for a long time to come,
  97.   so please be generous - remember, IT COULD HAVE BEEN YOU.

  99. ˛ VOTE! - On Election Day this year, you have the opportunity to make the
  100.   ultimate difference in this country.  If you are of age, please go and
  101.   make your choice! I don't want to say who you should vote for, but open
  102.   your minds, your hearts, and your souls and vote your conscience. If you
  103.   disagree with one candidate, vote for the other.  The worst choice you
  104.   can make is to not vote.  Get out and show your support for the democracy
  105.   we live in and show how YOU CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!

  112. Digital BBS to the BBS List Team for the Palm Beach County area.  Already,
  113. Erynn has made a difference in the list.  If you have previously had trouble
  114. obtaining more recent editions of the BBS list, you can now get them from
  115. Screaming in Digital (S.I.D.), our newest official distribution site, and you
  116. can easily get your system added to the next edition of the list by filling out
  117. the short online questionnaire (no relation to the old long version
  118. questionnaire).  I call in at least once a week as well and answer any and all
  119. e-mail addressed or sent to me.  For the numbers to S.I.D., refer to the list
  120. of official distribution sites above or to the BBS list itself (that's what its
  121. there for! :)

  150.   From time to time, we will be posting "Eric Thav's BBS Watch" announ-
  151.   cements on systems in a particular area.  If we see a truly good BBS
  152.   system come online, or an existing one moving or changing, we will help
  153.   the Sysop out by promoting it to other BBSes.  These are similar to BBS
  154.   ads that Sysops already produce, but in some cases it may be more
  155.   tasteful and more informative.

  161.   there will be four editions of the list per year, aside from any special

  165.   edition.  We will not accept submissions for forthcoming lists after the
  166.   deadline dates. If we get a new submission it will be included in the

  189. Since the last edition of the list, some major upgrades to various BBS software
  190. packages have been introduced.  You should expect that many of the systems in
  191. the area that use these packages will be upgrading (or already have upgraded)
  192. to the new version.  The packages are:

  195.         ˛ Wildcat!               - from 3.02 to 3.55

  197. In addition, many of the local Telegard systems (and a few others) have
  198. converted to the Renegade BBS package.  Renegade, a new package written by
  199. Cott Lang and still in beta test, is a Telegard-clone in its simplest form,
  200. but has more features and will be supported by its author.  Telegard has been
  201. dropped by its author, Martin Pollard, although one more bug-fix release is
  202. rumored to be in the works.
